What did Partido Frente Obrero represent?

Partido Frente Obrero Liberashon 30 di Mei was a Curaçaoan political party that grew out of the labour movement and the events of 30 May 1969. It described itself as a social-democratic party representing workers, lower-income communities and trade-union interests.
Who were its main leaders?

Its founder and central figure was Wilson "Papa" Godett, who led the party from 1969 until his death in 1991. Leadership later passed to Anthony A. Godett, who held senior government positions in the Netherlands Antilles. Short profiles are available on the Key Figures page.
When was the party active?

The party was founded on 5 July 1969 and contested elections through the late twentieth century and into the early 2000s. After the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010, it gradually ceased to operate as a contesting electoral force.
What role did Frente Obrero play in Curaçao's political history?

Frente Obrero was one of the first political parties to emerge directly from the Curaçaoan labour movement. It participated in coalition governments at the island and country level on several occasions and was a recognisable voice for workers in Antillean politics for several decades.
